Colloquium to mark the First Anniversary of the Journal of Competition and Regulation
14 April in Auditorium 2 at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation - Intervenção do Prof. Doutor Jean François Bellis disponível

 INVITATION

Dear Sir/Madam

The Journal of Competition and Regulation (C&R) came into existence at the start of 2010 as a project which was avowedly original, based on the academic cooperation between the Portuguese Competition Authority (AdC) and a university institute, the Institute for Economic, Financial and Tax Law (IDEFF) of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon.

From the outset it was thus set up as an independent academic project, open to active collaboration from all those individuals and entities involved in some way in analysing problems of law and competition policy (in its dual legal and economic aspects) as well as sector regulation of the economy.

C&R is now celebrating its first birthday.

In this first year of existence, C§R has met its targets by ensuring the publication of four issues, and has brought together contributions from various sources and has established itself as the forum par excellence for the analysis and critical discussion of competition and regulation law and policies.

We would like to invite you to participate in the Colloquium to mark the First Anniversary of the Journal of Competition and Regulation, which will be held in Auditorium 2 at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation on 14 April 2011, from 15:00 onwards.

The Colloquium will be hosted by the President of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and will feature speeches from the President of the Competition Authority and the President of the Institute for Economic, Financial and Tax Law of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. Also present will be the Chairperson of the Academic Council of that Faculty and also confirmed is a paper to be given by Professor Jean François Bellis (Professor at the Université Libre de Bruxelles) on the reform of the system of vertical restraints on competition in the EU, as well as a speech by Professor Daniel Bessa (COTEC) on “The contribution of competition policy to the competitivity of the economy and Portuguese companies”.

The Minister for Economic Affairs and the Secretary of State for Trade, Services and Consumer Protection are also expected to be present.

Yours faithfully,
João Espírito Santo Noronha / Luís Morais
